1. Acceptance
By creating an account on Watu you agree to these Terms.
2. The platform
Watu is a marketplace connecting clients with service providers. We are not a party to any agreement between providers and clients. We do not employ providers.
3. Provider obligations
Providers must provide accurate information, render services with skill and care, and not create duplicate profiles.
4. AI-generated bio
Watu may assist providers in generating a bio using AI. Providers confirm all profile information is accurate and truthful. Watu accepts no liability for inaccuracies in provider-submitted content.
5. Pricing
Provider subscription: R59.99/month, triggered after the 10th WhatsApp contact from Watu. Free until then. No commission on earnings ever.
6. Prohibited conduct
Users may not provide false information, create multiple accounts, offer illegal services, or harass other users.
7. Client conduct
Clients must provide accurate information and communicate respectfully. Watu reserves the right to suspend accounts involved in fraudulent or abusive activity.
8. Reviews
Reviews must be based on genuine experiences. Watu may remove reviews that are fraudulent, abusive, defamatory, or misleading.
9. Account suspension
Watu may suspend accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraud, or harm other users.
10. Platform availability
Watu strives for uptime but does not guarantee uninterrupted access.
11. Provider suitability
Watu conducts identity checks but users remain responsible for evaluating providers. Watu does not guarantee the quality or outcome of services.
12. Payments
Payments are arranged directly between clients and providers. Watu is not responsible for payment disputes.
13. Intellectual property
The Watu name, logo, and platform content are property of 1 Rand Global (Pty) Ltd and may not be used without permission.
14. Profile images
Providers must use authentic images. AI-generated images are permitted provided they are original and accurately represent the provider's work.
15. Limitation of liability
Watu is not liable for services rendered between providers and clients or any indirect damages.
16. Changes to Terms
Watu may update these Terms. Continued use after changes are published constitutes acceptance.

What we collect
Name, email, phone, address, identity documents (verification only), profile photos, service information, and usage data via Google Analytics.
What we show publicly
Provider name, profile photo, services, prices, area, WhatsApp number, bio, and ratings. Your exact address is never shown publicly.
Third party services
Supabase (database, EU servers), Google Analytics (anonymised usage), Vercel (hosting). We do not sell your data to anyone.
Your rights (POPIA)
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Contact help@watu.app. You may also complain to the Information Regulator at www.justice.gov.za/inforeg/
Security
All passwords are encrypted. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Only authorised staff can access identity verification photos.

Cancellation notice
Providers must send written notice to help@watu.app at least 5 business days before their next billing date.
Profile after cancellation
Your profile remains live until the end of your current billing period.
Payment failure
If a payment fails, you have 72 hours to update your payment details before your profile is hidden.
Refunds
No refunds for partial subscription periods. The free period means you pay only after Watu has delivered value.
